"Californication" - It's all about a Disaster waiting to "Hop In"
61
Hank Moody, a character that just can't refuse but bite into the apple. At least that's as far as the Ad of the show symbolizes. It's all about mid-life crisis, irresistible temptations, and doing the right thing. .... Or at least the intention to do the right thing.
Californication is not your ordinary cable comedy series. No. I'd call it a "drama with balls". Intense, Witty, Funny with a lot of Attitude to boot.
But what it really touches is lives' many interesting turns. Oh ok, your life and my life may not be filled with so that much sex with various hot women, but if we take the hot women out of the picture, Hank Moody is just your ordinary character living the moment that lies in-between the good times.
Hank Moody played by David Duchovny of the X-file fame, is a one-hit-wonder of a writer. Someone who's done it before but just couldn't do it again. If being good can be annoying, it has to be being good but only for a limited time. And that's exactly the kind of life Californication starts from. "Back to Scratch".
David Duchovny plays the role with so much ease, it's almost like his being admitted to rehab for Sex Addiction was part of his Hank Moody Character.
The support cast are just as fascinating, led by TV character actor Evan Handler who plays his agent/bestfriend, Natascha McElhone who plays his Ex Wife and love of his life, Madeleine Martin his teenage daughter, and Madeline Zima who plays "Mia", someone else's teenage daughter Hank "accidentally" slept with.
Californication is a Comedy at it's bitter-sweet best. Not your ordinary coffee-table-conversation type of comedy, but it does the job.
