Love is Blind? Is It?

The phrase "Love is Blind" is more often used to describe an odd combination than in reference to the profound cliche it supposedly is. Yeah sure, you see a model material of a chick romantically involved with a dinosaur and what's the first thing that comes to mind? "Love is Blind"! You see a good looking guy going out with a fat chick and what comes to mind? "Love is Blind"!

How does "Love" really work? When does "Loving" supercede the normal Law of Attraction which is supposedly based primarily on Superficial Attributes, Personality second, and Ugly yet Forgivable Traits last place?

Love can be Intoxicating. Yes. Just like Beer, being In Love gives one the right to come up with Rationally-Questionable Choices. And there's an explanation to go with that. Apparently when we fall in love, a chemical gets released deep into our brain and when the Feelings are strong, the chemical released come aplenty thus over-running the normal mode of reason and in turn makes the person susceptible to making bad choices based on his/her Romantic Feelings.

Kinda like this Video Clip:

But what's so blinding about Love?

Love is a few notches above Attraction. So unlike Attraction which centers primarily on appearance, Love makes us equate the other traits a person has. And although Looks still makes the lion's share in the final score, the other traits unfortunately are designed to counter Attraction. So you have Personality, you the person's Nature, Financial capabilities, and a few other stuff like "size" and "length", to make up the whole. Unfortunately when all the other stuff hit a rhythm, they can over-run good 'ol Attraction.

Kinda like the following Video Clip:

Yes. It's the same video but only because we're trying to make the same point.

Love is not only Blind. Love is not only Intoxicating. Love is not only a good reason to make Odd Decisions. Love can also be Stupid. It's like one minute you're playing catch and the next minute you're out cold.

Or maybe, Love is such a pure, unadulterated feeling, there are just no words to explain nor justify the act of Loving. Maybe it's so selfless, it is not limited to superficial stuff like "Looks". Maybe Love is just so pure, it's Honest.

So is Love really Blind? Perhaps not. Perhaps it can make people See beyond what the normal eyes could see. As Helen Keller wrote:

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched .... but are felt in the heart"
